Bouncers Farm Gypsy Camp - Essex

Bouncers Farm Gypsy Camp

Over on the Essex coast, Ann Bishop is putting the finishing touches to a Gypsy Camp that she has been busy recreating for over a year. The two bowtop wagons are genuine articles, carefully restored. The bender tent with the day bed is a traditional accompaniment and the Queenie stove (it's a little wood-burner) and all the cooking equipment are the real thing too. From the pigs living on the other side of the orchard, to the blooming apple and cherry trees and the masses of delicious local produce, everything at Bouncers Farm seems full of life. With the coast and its many little-known beaches just four miles away, it's an unusual and nourishing escape from the city.

Jersey Yurt Holidays

Jersey Yurt

Whether you are already an experienced camper, or a novice waiting to be converted, yurt holidays are the perfect break. With their beautiful solid structure and their all embracing ambience, you cannot help but become completely relaxed and in harmony with nature as soon as you step inside one.

Here at Clifden, we have three handcrafted and individually decorated 16ft yurts, nestled within our secluded small holding; overlooking magnificent views of St. Aubin's Bay and reaching far beyond.

We are a family run business offering guests a high quality of accommodation and facilities, whilst keeping things as environmentally friendly as possible, in keeping with our aim to maintain and protect our land.

We are open all year round, so you can choose whether you fancy a spring, summer, autumn or winter break. Whatever the time of year, you can rest assured that you will be cosy in your yurt ...perhaps with the fire lit, absorbing the breath-taking views, and watching the stars at night, through the clear roof wheel.

Yarlington Yurt

Twin yurt at Yarlington

The Yarlington Yurt is not only a great place to stay, but the latest stage of an ambitious project that began back in 1782, when Yarlington House was built. George III apparently remarked, as he saw the original building going up on his way from Weymouth to Longleat, that the owner was, "a bold man, to build a house there." But as the trees grew and the gardens were expanded, that boldness proved visionary. To the walled kitchen garden built at the same time as the house, Count and Countess Charles de Salis have added touches of their own such as the ha-ha wall and the sunken garden at the far end of the lawn, pleached lime trees and now their grand yurt. It's a beautifully decorated two pod set-up, in a private spot behind the kitchen garden, looking out onto the gentle Somerset countryside. It comfortably sleeps four in two pods. A bespoke kitchen and bathroom tent and beautiful grounds help complete the ideal family retreat with that little touch of luxury. We think George III would have approved.

Trevella - Cornwall

Enjoy our simple pleasures: big skies and beautiful views, crashing waves and the world’s best beach, flipping rocks in search of crabs, flying high on a rope-swing or catching your first fish..
